Since 1952. Brass bowl, raw beef, aged soybean soup. Where Jeonju bibimbap is actually from.
Tip Jeonju is the birthplace of bibimbap, and Hangukjip (한국집) has been serving it since 1952. The traditional version arrives in a heavy brass bowl (놋그릇) — never the sizzling stone bowl. Order the 'jeonju jeontong bibimbap' (전주전통비빔밥), mix gently with chopsticks not a spoon (locals say a spoon bruises the rice), and add the raw beef (yukhoe). The aged soybean paste soup that comes with it is the secret. Reserve weekends.
