Tip Visit between 10:00–17:00 — the Red Zone (Bukchon-ro 11-gil) strictly bans tourists outside these hours since March 2025 (₩100,000 fine). The iconic hanok street frames N Seoul Tower in the background. Arrive at 10:00 for the emptiest alleys. Combine with Samcheong-dong cafés afterwards.

An 11km urban stream cutting through downtown Seoul. At night, lit fountains and lanterns make it feel like the city floats.
Tip Start at Cheonggye Plaza (Gwanghwamun Station exit 5) and walk east — the best stretch to Dongdaemun is ~3km, about 50min. Go after dark for the light show at the waterfall fountain. In December, the Seoul Lantern Festival fills the stream with thousands of hanji paper lanterns and LED art — one of the most romantic nights in Seoul. The stepping stones across the water are a couple's rite of passage.

Ivy-covered industrial ruins turned into a secret garden on a Han River island. Seoul's most romantic unknown.
Tip Former water treatment plant converted into Seoul's most hauntingly beautiful park. The 'Garden of Green Columns' — ivy strangling old industrial pillars — is unlike anything else in the city. Bring food and picnic among the lotus ponds and rusted infrastructure. Stay for the sunset behind Yanghwa Bridge with the National Assembly building glowing in the distance. Almost no foreigners know about this place. Locals call it 선유도 and it's a classic couple's course.

Tip The cherry blossom tunnel along the National Assembly wall (윤중로) is Seoul's most romantic km. Peak bloom late March–mid April (check KMA forecasts). Weekday mornings avoid the biggest crowds. Off-season: rent Ddareungi (따릉이) bikes and ride the riverside trail.
