Tip The strip between Exit 9 and Yeonnam-dong has the densest concentration of arcades. Try DDR, Pump It Up, and claw machines. Coin noraebang (₩500/song) is nearby too. Loser buys tteokbokki.

Downtown Seoul
An 11km urban stream cutting through downtown Seoul. At night, lit fountains and lanterns make it feel like the city floats.
Tip Start at Cheonggye Plaza (Gwanghwamun Station exit 5) and walk east — the best stretch to Dongdaemun is ~3km, about 50min. Go after dark for the light show at the waterfall fountain. In December, the Seoul Lantern Festival fills the stream with thousands of hanji paper lanterns and LED art — one of the most romantic nights in Seoul. The stepping stones across the water are a couple's rite of passage.

Cup noodles by the river, banana milk, city lights on the water. Classic Seoul evening.
Tip CU/GS25 at the park have cup ramyeon + hot water. Grab kimbap + banana milk. Rent a mat nearby (₩5,000). Banpo Rainbow Fountain: Apr–Oct at 19:30/20:00/20:30 — sit facing south. Or order fried chicken delivery to your riverside spot.

Jamsil
Fried chicken, beer, and 50,000 people chanting in unison. Korean baseball is a vibe.
Tip Tickets on Ticketlink (티켓링크). Outfield seats are cheapest and most fun. Order chicken + beer to your seat via 배달의민족. The chanting and dancing is the real show. Season: March–October.

Ikseon-dong
Rice wine in hidden hanok bars. Pair with pajeon. Seoul's most photogenic drinking street.
Tip Seoul's trendiest hanok neighborhood — tiny alleys packed with bars and cafés inside renovated traditional houses. Try any spot with 전통 막걸리 signs. Always pair with pajeon. The neighborhood itself is gorgeous for a stroll before drinking.

360° panoramic views, love locks, golden hour to city lights. The classic Seoul date.
Tip Arrive 1hr before sunset for shorter queues and the golden-hour-to-city-lights transition. Love locks on the roof terrace (bring your own). Hiking from Myeongdong ~40min, beautiful in autumn. N.Grill (revolving restaurant) for a splurge dinner.

Han River
Open-air films and music on an island in the Han River. Dreamy sunset views.
Tip A culture island in the middle of the Han River. Check @nodeulisland on Instagram for outdoor film screenings and live music events. Even without events, the riverside cafés and sunset views are worth the trip. Bring a blanket.
Q
Jongno
Seoul's oldest market. Sizzling mung bean pancakes, addictive mini gimbap, raw beef. Sit on a stool, order everything.
Tip Korea's oldest permanent market (est. 1905), made globally famous by Netflix's Street Food: Asia. Go straight to the food alley. Sit at a bindaetteok (mung bean pancake) stall and pair with makgeolli — this is the move. Mayak gimbap (bite-sized 'addictive' rolls) at the North Gate stalls. For the adventurous: yukhoe (raw beef tartare). Vendors will aggressively beckon — lean into it. Best visited on weekday evenings when locals fill the stools.

Han River / Yeouido
Ivy-covered industrial ruins turned into a secret garden on a Han River island. Seoul's most romantic unknown.
Tip Former water treatment plant converted into Seoul's most hauntingly beautiful park. The 'Garden of Green Columns' — ivy strangling old industrial pillars — is unlike anything else in the city. Bring food and picnic among the lotus ponds and rusted infrastructure. Stay for the sunset behind Yanghwa Bridge with the National Assembly building glowing in the distance. Almost no foreigners know about this place. Locals call it 선유도 and it's a classic couple's course.

Cheongdam-dong
