Jongno-gu
Centuries-old hanok alleyways with the Seoul skyline behind them. Best early morning.
Tip Visit between 10:00–17:00 — the Red Zone (Bukchon-ro 11-gil) strictly bans tourists outside these hours since March 2025 (₩100,000 fine). The iconic hanok street frames N Seoul Tower in the background. Arrive at 10:00 for the emptiest alleys. Combine with Samcheong-dong cafés afterwards.

Gwanghwamun
Seoul's grandest palace. Wearing hanbok gets you in free and peak photos.
Tip Hanbok = free entry. Rent near Anguk Stn (₩15,000–30,000/4hrs, hair styling included). Gyeonghoeru Pavilion reflected in the pond is the money shot. Guard changing ceremony at 10:00 & 14:00 at Gwanghwamun Gate. The back garden (향원정) is gorgeous and usually empty.

Hyehwa
Murals and street art on staircase streets. Every corner is a photo op.
Tip Walk uphill from Hyehwa through Naksan Park. The flower staircase (꽃계단) and fish wall are iconic photo spots. It's residential — keep voices down. Combine with Daehangno (대학로) theater district for a musical + dinner.

Jongno
Seoul's oldest market. Sizzling mung bean pancakes, addictive mini gimbap, raw beef. Sit on a stool, order everything.
Tip Korea's oldest permanent market (est. 1905), made globally famous by Netflix's Street Food: Asia. Go straight to the food alley. Sit at a bindaetteok (mung bean pancake) stall and pair with makgeolli — this is the move. Mayak gimbap (bite-sized 'addictive' rolls) at the North Gate stalls. For the adventurous: yukhoe (raw beef tartare). Vendors will aggressively beckon — lean into it. Best visited on weekday evenings when locals fill the stools.

Myeongdong
Royal ginseng spa. Side-by-side massages. Float out reborn.
Tip O HUI & WHOO SPA in Myeongdong — royal Korean red ginseng and oriental herb treatments. Side-by-side couples massage. Book 2+ days ahead. Alternative: SPA 1899, also Myeongdong, with 6-year aged ginseng. Both splurge-worthy.

Yeonnam-dong
3–4 themed cafés in one walk along tree-lined streets. Rate them. Crown a winner.
Tip Seoul's coziest café neighborhood. Walk the Gyeongui Line Forest Park (경의선숲길, converted railway) and pop into themed cafés — dessert, flower, board game, vintage record, raccoon cafés. Visit 3–4, rate each, crown a winner.
